Way 1. Update Drivers

Way 2. Modify Registry
Step 1. Press the “Win + R” keys to call out the Run box.

“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > WindowsUpdate”.
Then, click AU and find UseWUServer in the right panel. Finally, replace the value data with “0”.

Way 3. Run SFC Scan
The SFC (System File Checker) is a Windows built-in utility that is able to check and repair the corrupted or incomplete system files automatically. To remove Windows update error 0x8024401c, run the following commands:
Step 1. Type “CMD” in the search box, and from the best match result, run Command Prompt as administrator.
Step 2. In the pop-up Command Prompt window, type “sfc /scannow” and press Enter key. The scanning process can take long. Please wait patiently until it is 100% complete.
Step 3. Restart your PC and try Windows update again.
Way 4. Perform a Clean Boot
Step 1. Press “Win + R” keys to call out the Run box.
Step 2. Type “msconfig” in the Run box and press OK.
