While many users have turn to Windows 10, Windows 7 is still very popular among world-wide users. Hence, it is very important to have a good partition manager to manage hard drives in Windows 7. In today’s post, I want to introduce one of the best partition manager for Windows 7/8/10, both 32 bit and 64 bit.
When it comes to reliable free partition manager for Windows, MiniTool Partition Wizard is always the first one that comes to mind. This partition manager software is capable of doing a lot of things. For example, when your computer has “low disk space warning”, you can make use of the Extend Partition feature. When you receive “file is too large for the destination file system” error while transferring files, you can employ Convert FAT to NTFS feature to address this issue. MiniTool Partition Wizard offers too many features, and I am not going to cover them one by one. For more information, you can view the Help page.
Here I just take two features to show you how flexible this free disk partition software is. Just keep reading.
You must know that Windows 7 has a built-in partition manager called Disk Management. This tool is also capable of extending partition. However, if the unallocated space/free space is not in the adjacent right side of the target primary/logical partition, Extend Volume feature is disabled. To get more knowledge, please refer to Why Extend Volume Grayed out and How to Quickly Fix It.
But with MiniTool Partition Wizard, extend partition is so easy. In the main interface, just select the partition you want to extend and then choose Extend Partition feature. In the pop-up window, drop down the partition list and choose one to take some free space from. Then confirm the operation by clicking OK and Apply.
Convert MBR to GPT
If you have an MBR data disk that is larger than 2TB, let’s say 3TB or 6TB, it is wise for you to choose GPT as the partition table. Otherwise, the disk space larger than 2TB is wasted. In this case, how can you convert the MBR disk to GPT?
In Disk Management, you can achieve this goal only when the whole drive is shown as unallocated space, i.e. all partitions on the hard drive should be removed for the conversion. This is a data killing way unless you make a backup before the conversion. However, MiniTool Partition Wizard puts forward a data lossless way to convert MBR to GPT.
In the main interface, select the disk you want to convert and choose Convert MBR Disk to GPT. Then click Apply button on the top left corner to start the conversion. You will see that all partitions as well as data in it are still there.
Above are the two examples to let you know MiniTool Partition Wizard. In fact, there are more amazing features for you to discover. Just download this free Windows partition manager to start your trial.
