What is SSD format? Simply put, when you get a brand new SSD, you have to create new partitions on it and format partitions before you start saving data to it. Usually, SSD is used to fasten operating system’s running speed. So it is better for you to format SSD to NTFS file system. And in this post, we show you three ways to format SSD.
 

3 Ways for SSD Formatting

 
1. CMD for SSD Formatting
 
CMD can help manage hard drive quickly. You just need to run simple commands instead of installing and running multiple programs. However, this requires you are rather familiar with the hard drives connected to your PC.
 
Step 1. Press Win+R to call out the “Run” box. Type “CMD” and press Enter.
 
Step 2. Type “diskpart” in the command line window and allow it to make changes to your PC. Then in the now command line window, type and run the following commands:
List volume
Select volume n (n is the number of the target volume)
Format fs=ntfs quick

2. Partition Wizard for SSD Formatting

3. Disk Management for SSD Formatting
 
Disk Management is also a good choice for SSD formatting. It is a Windows built-in disk utility that can do simple partition management including SSD formatting. You can access it by running “diskmgmt.msc”. When you see the disk map, select the partition to be formatted, then follow the guide to select the volume label, file system, allocation unit size, quick format or not and finally start the formatting.
