Windows server 2016 is a coming server operating system in September 2016. It is said that Windows server 2016 is composed of six editions: Datacenter, Standard and Essentials, etc. aiming to provide flexible services that suit a wide range of requirements. Till now the technical preview editions for public evaluations are available to get. While many advanced users have experienced the arriving server OS, the issue that exists in all Windows is still a concern.
Just like using Windows 7/8/10 and Windows server 2003/2008/2012, there are times when we discover that the disk layout is not as reasonable as we have expected. A partition that is saving company products becomes red bar, or a partition that is prepared for work sheets is leaving so much free space. Thus, you may want to re-partition the disk to make the disk layout more reasonable.
Tip: click this post to get more information on how to deal with “partition bar gets red”.
Here we would like to recommend a server partition manager to solve this issue. Why? We all know that Windows built-in partition management utility is restricted to do many tasks like file system conversion without data loss, or repartition hard drive without losing data. Thus professional partition tools like MiniTool Partition Wizard should be a better choice.
Take extend volume server 2016 for example:
Note: in our example: what we are going to change is partition I: in disk 1.
Step 1: Launch MiniTool Partition Wizard Server Edition, then click on partition I: and choose “Extend Partition” feature from the Operations menu.
Step 2: A small window comes out. In this window what we should do is to determine which partition can be shrinked and how much free space we need to extend partition I:. Drop down the box to select partition and slide the bar to determine free space.
Step 3: At last, we need to click “Apply” to make this change effective. Please wait patiently for Partition Wizard to finish the operation.
Note: if we are making changes on system partition, then Partition Wizard Server requires a reboot.
Windows Server 2016 will greet us in about several weeks, hope it will bring us surprise at the same time.
